Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Mikavaro collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit our website or buy from us. We process personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and, where applicable, the EU GDPR.
Section 1 – What we do with your information
When you buy something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process we collect the personal information you give us, such as your name, address and email address. When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer's internet protocol (IP) address, which gives us information about your browser and operating system. Email marketing (if applicable): with your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products and other updates.
Section 2 – Consent and lawful basis
How do you get my consent?
When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your payment card, place an order, arrange a delivery or return a purchase, we process that information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, such as marketing, we will either ask you directly for your express consent or give you the opportunity to say no.
How do I withdraw my consent?
If you change your mind after opting in, you can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@mikavaro.com.
Section 3 – Disclosure
We may disclose your personal information if we are required to do so by law or if you breach our Terms of service.
Section 4 – Shopify
Our store is hosted by Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.
Your data is stored through Shopify's data storage, databases and the general Shopify application. Your data is stored on a secure server behind a firewall.
Payment: if you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, Shopify stores your payment card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.
PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment card information by our store and its service providers. For more insight, you may also want to read Shopify's Terms of Service (https://www.shopify.com/legal/terms) or Privacy Statement (https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy).
Section 5 – Third-party services
In general, the third-party providers we use will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment processors, have their own privacy policies in respect of the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions. We recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand how your personal information will be handled by these providers.
Some providers may be located in, or have facilities in, a different country from you or us, including outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Once you leave our store's website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our Terms of service.
Links
When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.
Google Analytics: our store uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use our website and which pages they view.
Section 6 – Security
To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.
If you provide us with your payment card information, it is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.
Section 7 – Cookies
Like many websites, we use cookies. You can find details of the cookies used in connection with running our store on Shopify at https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies. We use cookies to operate and improve our site and services (including remembering your actions and preferences), to run analytics and better understand how you interact with the services, and, with your consent, to allow third parties and service providers to use cookies on our site to tailor services, products and advertising on our site and other websites.
Managing cookies
Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can set your browser to remove or reject cookies through your browser settings. Removing or blocking cookies may affect your experience and some features may not work properly. You can also manage your cookie preferences through our cookie banner, which appears when you first visit our site.
Section 8 – Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete your data, to restrict or object to how we process it, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@mikavaro.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Section 9 – Data retention
We keep your order information for as long as necessary to fulfil your order and meet our legal and accounting obligations, and marketing data until you withdraw your consent.
Section 10 – Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it. If our store is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.
